Planning and Organising your Own Financial and Care Future

Have you considered who will manage your affairs if you were no longer able to do so? There are a variety of circumstances when this might be necessary - mental incapacity, physical incapacity, absence from the country or simply you would prefer to leave the handling of your assets to a trusted family member or friend.

We all hope, when asked, that we will pass away quietly in our beds, having had full control of our faculties until then, and will not cause our family and friends any worry or problems. Unfortunately, for most of us, this is not what is going to happen.

Organising a Lasting Power of Attorney for yourself whilst you are able to, at any age in life, is the best way to ensure the peace of mind of knowing that you will have the care you want, given by the people you want, and that your wishes will be followed. An LPA is just as important as Will Planning, and you should consider organising your LPA today, to go alongside your Will as part and parcel of planning for the day you might not be able to take important decisions yourself.

Arranging to Manage the Affairs of Another Person

Are you now in the position of having to make decisions on someone else's behalf regarding care and medical treatment as they are unable to make such decisions? If, like most people in this position, the moment is upon you or will very shortly be so, then now is the time to find out what you have to do, what your responsibilities are, and what the costs are.

Our LPA Service

There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney, ‘Property and Affairs’ and ‘Personal and Welfare’. We will explain both options to you when we meet and allow you to make an informed decision about these important issues. If either of the above circumstances arises and there is no Lasting Power of Attorney in place there is a need for the Office of the Public Guardian to get involved in appointing someone to manage your affairs - this is a costly and intrusive process.
